The Challenge
Sign In App wanted to expand its offering for repeat users by introducing a time and attendance feature that could track expected vs. actual working hours across both web and mobile platforms. The goal: create a seamless experience for managing rotas, reviewing timesheets, and supporting payroll needs all while making it easy for users to engage, whether they’re admins or on-the-go employees.
My Role
As one of two UI/UX designers on this long-term project, I collaborated closely with design, product managers, developers and the wider team members such as HR and customer success to research user needs, map user flows, wireframe early concepts, and deliver final designs for both the Sign In App Portal and Companion App.
Key Considerations
Creating intuitive ways to build and assign fixed and flexible rota patterns
Designing a real-time daily progress indicator (timesheet view)
Ensuring timesheet records could be easily reviewed and edited
Introducing permission settings to control who could amend their own records
Delivering clear, exportable reports for payroll systems
Translating all of this into a streamlined mobile experience
Outcomes
This feature gave Sign In App’s repeat users a whole new level of control and transparency. Admins could now oversee attendance data in real time, and employees could easily track and manage their hours from their phones.
After the launch of the Time & Attendance feature in Feb 2024, this contributed to a 12% revenue increase within the first quarter.
